The Troubleshooting Methods for Your Damaged Membrane Switch

Membrane switches appear in every corner of our daily life: washing machines, microwave ovens and every instrument you use in your work. About 80 percent of electrical equipment uses membrane switches. Once one of the switches fails, how do we troubleshoot and repair it? In this blog, JRPanel would like to explain how to troubleshoot and repair the faulty membrane switch.

The first step is to locate the damaged part. Press all the buttons and see if the various functions of the device are activated.

If ONLY 1 OR 2 BUTTONS do not respond, the metal dome may be broken or displaced. We can use the hot air from the hair dryer to heat the product for 5 to 10 minutes. The purpose of this is to reduce the viscosity of the adhesive by heating.

The metal dome is on the third layer at the bottom of the membrane switch, and we can disassemble it to check or replace the dome.

If NONE OF THR BUTTONS respond, then we need to check for loose or damaged terminal housings at the end of the circuit. At the same time, don't forget to check the internal circuit. Once the circuit fails, we need to replace is the entire membrane switch.

To replace the membrane switch panel of the same model and specification, we only need to remove the control panel. The operation is very simple. Reading this article: Top 5 Biggest Membrane Switch Installation Mistakes will help you avoid installation mistakes.

Microswitches are also an option if you can't get a membrane switch panel. The circuit design should follow the old membrane switch. As for how to install the micro switch, we can complete it by drilling holes, silicone fixing and wiring.

If you have any questions about membrane switches, welcome to JRPanel!

Identify Different Types of Transformer Cores, Based on Materials

Hi guys, this is JRPanel ! In previous  blog s, we have introduced several points about High Frequency Transformer, like  bobbins  and  Flat Spiral Coil . In this blog, JRPanel would like to introduce the commonly used magnetic cores in transformers ,  based on materials.   Generally speaking, the material of the core determines the environment in which the transformer is used. A transformer that uses a core of a different material will have its performance affected, may even be non-functional.   By material, magnetic cores are generally divided into the  several  categories . JRPanel will introduce them one by one to help you understand more fully.   1. Manganese Zinc Ferrite Core Mn-Zn core is a soft magnetic core with high initial permeability (2000~15000). The higher the initial permeability, the lower the surface resistance, so it is generally used in circuits below 1 MHz. Mn-Zn core has a high saturation ...

The Relationship Between Plastic Nameplates and Membrane Switches

Before the 1970s, most nameplates   were made of metal materials. Today, plastic  nameplates   have been widely used in household appliances, instruments, meters, office equipment and other fields, and have become an indispensable part of electromechanical products. It not only plays the role of trademark identification, specification model, function indication, etc., but also becomes an element that reflects the appearance of the product.   With the continuous use of new materials and new processes, the surface of plastic  nameplates   is constantly improving, and it has become the crystallization of three major technologies: comprehensive surface treatment, processing and molding, and screen printing.   Plastic  nameplates   can be divided into 2 types according to their material processing methods and objects of use:   1. The injection-type plastic  nameplate   is made of ABS, PC and other engineering injection molding, and ...
