In our last blog, JRPanel introduces one special craft in membrane switch manufacturing -- ESD Layer Installation, which can prevent ESD from damaging your membrane switches. In this blog, JRPanel brings you another special craft -- Glossy Window with Matte Surface.
WHAT IS “GLOSSY WINDOW WITH MATTE SURFACE” ?
Generally speaking, there are 2 kinds of the surface finish of membrane switch for people to choose: glossy finish and matte finish. Those who choose a glossy finish are usually looking for its soft surface feel and uniform color; while those who choose matte surface value the anti-scratch and wear-resistant characteristics of the product. JRPanel procures the following four types of genuine substrates on a long-term basis to meet the surface finish needs of membrane switch products: PET Matte / PET Glossy / PC Matte / PC Glossy.
But for some membrane switch products designed with display windows, the choice of surface effect may not be so simple. The membrane switch window is usually a transparent area on the panel for the user to observe the display of the LED or LCD behind the panel. This has led to a new type of surface finish, which we will introduce today: Glossy Window with Matte Surface, a surface finish that combines the good light transmission of the window with the outstanding wear resistance of the whole panel.
HOW DOES JRPANEL ACCOMPLISH THIS SPECIAL PROCESS?
Let's take look at a comparison picture first.
As it shows, the two finishes in the picture are both "matte", but visually they look different. The former uses a matte PET/PC substrate, while the latter uses a glossy PET/PC substrate, and the JRPanel factory applied a matte oil to the latter to achieve a matte finish.
By now, you may have guessed how JRPanel completed the "Glossy Window with Matte Surface".
Right, for this particular requirement, JRPanel will select a substrate that is itself glossy and apply a matte oil to the graphic layer for the area other than the display window.
MATTE OIL PRINTING NOTES
--After taking out the glossy material, we must print matte oil within 48 hours.
--The printing place should avoid direct sunlight. The UV light source should be placed separately from the printed material.
--The printing workshop should be kept clean and dust-free. Any pollution will lead to imperfect matte effect.
--Matte Oil should be thoroughly stirred before use.
--Printing thickness: 30-40 μm.
Follow the above notes and print correctly, the product will take on a "Glossy Window with Matte Surface" status ultimately.
